French is a widespread language in the whole world! Since it was a colonial power from 1534 to 1980. All the countries that the French have colonized before are Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Togo, Tunisia, Canada, Haiti, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana (French Guiana), Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Lebanon, Syria, India, and Vanuatu, Hense why so many places have similar languages or have similar words or share words.

In conclusion, French is very widespread language, with very cool culture.
